A simple, pared back, New-England styled garden for a modern, family home, for entertaining and family fun.

As the gardens wrap around the house we have designed them so that they offer different areas for different times of the day, time of year and depending on the mood of the client.

There is an intimate entertaining garden off the kitchen at the back of the house, with generous built-in seating and a long table for entertaining a large group of friends, or just for a secluded place to sit on a sunny morning with a coffee.  There is plenty of space for cooking outside here – so the chef can enjoy the party too!  Planting  is simple and mostly evergreen, with scented climbers on the walls and fences and a minimal palette of softer, perennial plants the lower levels, set off by topiary spheres and some more interesting, textural shrubs.

Around the side and front of the house, the garden has simple, clean lines; the lawn is surrounded by a minimal palette of white hydrangeas, lime-green grasses that float in the wind and strong lines of hedging and pleached trees that screen the view to the houses beyond the boundary.  There’s a real New-England feel to this area.  Another small seating area enjoys the last of the evening sun, a great place to sit and relax with a glass of wine and friends!
